A few folks got together yesterday to practice for K's upcoming mehendi / sangeeth ceremony this weekend. For most people who aren't familiar with Bollywood moves, don't understand Hindi, or just have plain trouble remembering sequences (the last one would be yours truly), an easy way to remember steps is a relevant cue. So, after coming up with cues such as 'wash floor', 'wash hair', 'throw seeds', 'change light bulbs' etc (you've got to watch the dance moves for these cues to make perfect sense), A had the brilliant idea of making short videos of the various dances. The "goal" was to post these videos online, so that we could go back and practise till we became perfect (cough cough). Realistically speaking, we need to practise more so that we look at least somewhat coordinated on Friday night! Since coordinating schedules on weekday evenings can be a nightmare, videos can help. Of course, the 'online video' idea spawned the quintessential discussion on what's ok to be posted for random folks to watch on YouTube and what's not.
So, last night, I started thinking about two videos that I'd made / been part of, in Follies 2007, a fun event featuring spoofs on life in b-school. They were on YouTube (what a surprise :P) and I figured I'd blog about them.
My first (and obviously, last) directoral venture was about a classmate, Dr.P, who's dabbled with a lot of things in his life. He's a music major, worked as a Mormon preacher in Siberia, and is currently finishing up his MD, after getting his MBA last year. He was a great sport about the video though, 'starring' in it as himself, even after we added the most ridiculous career paths to it. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhz3BNH--HQ
